Press Release: Recruitment Industry Veteran Joel Cheesman Joins Rectxt Advisory Board

October 22, 2019 - VANCOUVER, BC

Rectxt, a text recruiting software company founded by two recruitment experts, is pleased to welcome industry veteran Joel Cheesman to its advisory board. Cheesman, an award-winning author, blogger and podcaster, who has been featured in publications like Fast Company and US News and World Report, brings over 20 years of experience in the online recruitment space.

“We are both excited and humbled to have such a well-respected recruitment industry leader join us,” said Rectxt co-founder Brian Thompson, “we are incredibly fortunate to gain instant access to his expert market knowledge and deep industry connections to help us reach our growth goals.”

In his capacity as advisor, Cheesman will support the growth initiatives of the business. Specifically, he’ll work hard to connect Rectxt’s management team to sales opportunities, support marketing initiatives, and oversee technological advancements.

“The time is right for text recruiting to make a breakthrough with mid- to small-sized businesses in North America, and eventually around the globe,” said Cheesman. “I’m excited to join a team that not only understands the technology behind text messaging, but also understands the ins and outs of the recruiting profession, because they’re cut from that cloth.”

“Joel has always been a vocal proponent of integrating text messaging into the recruitment process,” said Rectxt co-founder Bradley Clark. “He really gets our space, so this partnership naturally makes a lot of sense.” Cheesman also founded a text marketing company in 2011, Hungry Thumb, which was acquired by Tatango in 2013.

With over 20 years of recruitment experience between them, Thompson and Clark, founded Rectxt after discovering that there were no viable text recruiting solutions available to them in the SMB segment of the recruitment market.

“We were both looking for a better alternative to texting our candidates than using our personal cell phones, but we couldn’t find one that was affordable to small businesses or contractors like ourselves,” says Brian. “The few options out there were priced for enterprise companies, required 12-month commitments, a heavy sales and onboarding process, and unnecessary features that we simply didn’t need and certainly didn’t want to pay for.” “Rectxt’s mission is to democratize text recruiting technology for all recruiters - not just those with large budgets” adds Brad.
